Last updated 27 October 2026. SHRPN runs SHRPN. Questions: see the contact details on this site.
The short version
SHRPN’s style checks run on your own computer. That text never leaves it.
When SHRPN asks Claude for a suggestion, it sends the text you’re working on to our server, then to Anthropic, who make Claude. We don’t store that text.
We don’t sell your data, show you ads or use your writing to train AI.
What we collect
Your account: your licence key (stored only in scrambled form), and your name and email if you choose to give them.
Your style settings: the style rules and writing samples you save, so suggestions sound like you on every device.
Usage counts: how many suggestions you use each day and how much Claude processing they took. Not the text itself.
Payments: if you go Pro, Stripe handles your card. We receive your email and a customer reference, never your card details.
Sign-up protection: a scrambled version of your IP address when you create a free key, to stop abuse.
Who processes your data
Anthropic processes the text sent for suggestions under its commercial terms. Anthropic does not use API data to train its models. See anthropic.com/legal for how long it keeps API data.
Cloudflare hosts our server and database.
Stripe handles payments.
Your choices
You can switch off automatic suggestions, or turn SHRPN off for any website, in its settings.
You can ask us to see, correct or delete your account and data at any time using the contact details above.
In the UK or EU, the GDPR gives you rights. These include the right to complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO).
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll say so on this page and in SHRPN.
